Dani tells the ancient story of the Horseshoe crab, a familiar presence in Rhode Island, to open us back up to the wonder of our connection with the universe. Thresholds of Presence: Meditations on Mortality
Humans are gifted with awareness of time, the past and the future, but this gift also breeds a common fear: the fear of our own death. Dani offers a unique approach to death positivity with an astrological lens. We will interact with the unique energy of the Moon and planets on the evening we gather to discover solace and beauty even in the face of mortality. We'll cycle through several rounds of lecture, astrological inspiration, guided meditation, and reflection. Participants are not expected to share unless truly moved; the event is designed for each to take in and process inwardly. This is part of a monthly series that will continue to explore and cultivate a healthy and enlivening relationship with mortality. Our modern society has separated us from the natural process of death and dying—this is neither natural nor life-affirming. Join end-of-life doula Dani Doucette for a participatory workshop on death positivity. Weaving history, science, spirituality and our very own lived experience, Dani will engage us in acknowledging our fears and remembering our intrinsic wisdom as we seek to heal our relationship with the knowledge of our mortality.
